LAVINA (BERG) ACKERMAN 1855-1940

Mrs. S.T. Ackerman, 85 years old, died this morning at 4:15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Burke, 1001 N. Washington, Chanute, Kansas, after an illness of more than two years.

She was born November 9, 1855, near Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

She married to S.T. Ackerman January 2 1884, at El Paso, Illinois. They came to Kansas 32 years ago, locating at Newton, KS, and later moving to Neosho County, locating on a farm near Parsons, KS. Twenty four years ago they moved to Chanute. Mr. Ackerman died December 17, 1936.

Mrs. Ackerman is the last of eight children, including all brothers and sisters-in-law.

Mrs. Ackerman was a member of the Evangelical Church and attended the Nazarene Church since living in Chanute.

She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Ekin and Mrs. Grace Stephenson, of Bloomington, IL; Mrs. Beulah Schanbacher, of Hutchison, KS; Mrs. Stella Eccles, of Parsons, KS; and Mrs. Clara Burke, of Chanute, KS; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Roy S. Gibson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Galesburg, KS.
