Civil War Veteran - Enlisted July 17, 1863, at Davenport, Iowa, and mustered into Company A, 8th Regiment, Iowa Cavalry (Union). Regiment moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., October 17-22, thence to Nashville, Tenn., November 14-16. Attached to Defenses of Nashville & Northwestern Railroad, Dept. of the Cumberland, to March 1864. Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Battle of Resaca, Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Battle of Franklin, Battle of Nashville. Duty at Macon, Georgia till August 1865. Mustered out August 13, 1865, at Macon, Georgia. Filed for Invalid Pension on March 20, 1886.
