Edmond "Ed" McGlaun Jr was born on 16 September 1826, to Edmond McGlaun Sr and Susannah Crawford. He married Martha Evans Tullis on 8 April 1847 in Muscogee County, Georgia. Their children were William Moses, Susan Ann Mariah, Martha Jane Rebecca Frances, James Edmund, Rathiel Elizabeth Nancy Saphrinia, and Mary Amelia Adeline Angeline McGlaun. The family moved from Georgia to Sparta, Louisiana, about 1857-58. While there, Ed served in the 28th Louisiana Infantry in the Civil War.
