All of the Vann family buried here are shown in the very Southwest corner of the cemetery; there were several blank slots on the American Indian Institute survey, this is probably one of them. In regard to his father Avery Vann b.1749 according to LDS family tree his parents were Edward Vann {1720-1752} and a Charity Barnes {1725-1790}; she was the daughter of Richard Barnes {1695-1750} and Tkikami "April" Carpender {1691-1774} the daughter of Amatoya Moytoy a common ancestor of Nancy Ward and Stand Watie

Note Edward Vann {1720-1752} was apparently the father of Joseph Vann by a different woman.

Born in Spring Place, GA, son of Avery Vann Sr. b. abt 1749.

He married abt 1796, Margaret "Peggy" McSwain (buried at this cem.); they had the following children; Joseph Teautle b. 11 Feb 1798; Chief David Vann b. 01 Jan 1800; Charles b. 1802; Margaret b. abt 1803; Avery Vann III b. abt 1804; Andrew Jackson Marion b. abt 1805; Nancy "Nannie" b. abt 1805; Catherine "Katie b. abt 1808; Mary b. abt 1810; Clement b. abt 1816; Sarah "Sallie" b. 1818; Keziah b. abt 1819; Elizabeth "Betsey" b. 1820 who married David Rowe (both buried at this cem.); Eliza b. abt 1822; Clara b. abt 1824; Jane Jennie" b. abt 1826, and James Vann b. abt 1828.

He also had a daughter by an Unkn Cherokee Woman who married John Maw.

A white man, but related somehow to his contemporary, Chief James Vann. Both had sons named Joseph who were nearly the same age.

Military Service: 1813-14, David McNair's Co., Horseshoe Bend.
