John Emett Cherry, of Star City, died Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff.
Born January 17, 1917 at Havana, Arkansas, he was a son of the late John Edward and Sula May Toller Cherry.
He was a member of Crigler Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Cherry Hackelton, who died July 27, 1991. A great-grandson, Sean Michael Pearson.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Wyatt Cherry of Star City to whom he married September 28, 1940; two daughters, Sharon Pearson of Benton and Kay Butler Blevins of Pine Bluff; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2 at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel with Brother David Leopard officiating.
Burial was in Holly Springs Cemetery in the Little Garnett Community.
Pallbearers were H. R. Morgan, Robert Dreher, Noel Leach, Ronnie Weatherford, Gerald Steed and John Manly.
