E. H. Knapp was the son of James D. and Martha Sayre Knapp. He worked as a railway brakeman and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and Ripley Lodge No. 16, A. F. and A.M.

Mr. Knapp was formerly of Ripley, WV, and spent his last years in Shrewsbury, WV. He passed away at Charleston (WV) General Hospital. His survivors included three sons, Donald Knapp, Eugene Knapp, and Roy Dayton Knapp, and one daughter, Hazel Knapp Oldham, plus seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Knapp was preceded in death by his wife, Martha E. Knapp, whom he married on July 15, 1906, and by his daughter, Ruth Knapp (Honaker) Hill.

Funeral services were held at the Vail Funeral Home in Ripley, WV, with the Rev. Roy McCoy officiating. Interment followed at Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley.
