Mrs. Martha E. KNAPP, wife of E. H. KNAPP, died of cancer in Camden Clark Hospital in Parkersburg, WV, at 10:35 pm on Sunday night, May 2, 1943. Her funeral service was held Tuesday, May 4, and burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery at Ripley.

Martha was the daughter of Aley Lawrence and Sarah Ellen Lynch Smith. Her survivors included her husband and five children: Mrs. Hazel OLDHAM, of Parkersburg; Mrs. Ruth HONAKER, of Charleston; Donald KNAPP, of Charleston; Corporal Eugene KNAPP of the U.S. Army infantry, stationed in Panama, and First Lt. Roy D. KNAPP with the armed forces in England; her father, Aley Lawrence SMITH, of Ripley, one brother, Albert Lawrence SMITH, of Ripley; two sisters, Mrs. I. J. SMITH, of Evans, and Mrs. E. A. STEWART, of New Salem, Ohio; a half-brother, Robert Madison 'Matt' Kidd; and a half-sister, Mrs. Mary BORCHETT, of Portsmouth, Ohio. Martha was predeceased by her mother and by her sister, Myrtle Smith LATHEY.
