Hazel Rucker Banta, 84, of Shelbyville, Ky., formerly of Defoe, a member of Union Baptist Chuch, died Aug. 30, 2000 at Shelby Manor. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Melissa Dearinger Rucker. Preceded in death also by her husband, Eugene Banta; a son Lannie Banta. Survived by a daughter, Martha Tipton of Shelbyville; a sister, Catherine Wood of Shelbyville.
