Mamie Elnora Post Cowles Goring age 82 of Quapaw, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Higher Call Nursing Home, in Quapaw. She was born on July 2, 1931 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma the daughter of Daniel & Belva (Leemaster) Post.
She married her childhood sweetheart Larnce Cowles on December 30, 1946; he preceded her in death in June of 1988. In April of 1994 she was united in marriage to Charles Goring, he preceded her in death November of 1997. Mamie and Charles traveled several times to Arizona to see family and loved taking trips to North Dakota. She was also a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe and was proud of her heritage.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, John Thomas Post and a sister, Algerene Owens.
She is survived by 2 daughters, LaDonna Underwood and her husband George, of Miami, Oklahoma and Nancy Herod and her husband Kenneth, of Bixby, Oklahoma. Also surviving are 3 grandsons, Justin Herod, of Liberty, Oklahoma, Jason Underwood of, Owasso, Oklahoma and Johnny Herod and his wife Stacy, of Liberty, Oklahoma, 1 grand-granddaughter, Angie Fuller and her husband Billy, of Edmond, Oklahoma, 8 great-grandchildren, Ashley Herod of Miami, Oklahoma, Levi Herod of Liberty, Oklahoma, Shelby Auston and her husband Billy, of Liberty, Oklahoma, Olivia Lambert of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Benjamin, Adleigh, and Nathan Fuller, all of Edmond, Oklahoma and Johnny Ray Herod of Liberty, Oklahoma, 3 great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kamber, Zyleigh and expecting 2 more in December and other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services and Interment will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 8, 2014 at Price Cemetery, near Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Chaplain John McPhail, officiating. Pallbearers will be John Herod, Justin Herod, Kenneth Herod, George Underwood, Jason Underwood and Billy Fuller.
