Daughter of Jacques de Coussenaer of Enghien, a deacon in the Dutch Church at Austin Friars in London, who married Catharina de Crombrugghe of Ghent, in that church on 1 Sept. 1590.

Granddaughter of Bartholomeus van Crombrugghe (d. 1624), tallow chandler and a free denizen of St Katherine by the Tower, Middlesex, and his wife Livina Goethals, who came to England in 1587/88 and was a member of the Dutch Church at Austin Friars in London.

Great-granddaughter of Antonius Goethals (d. 1570), brewer of Ghent, and Jacoba van Wijmeersch, who were the parents of Laurentius, Livina, Pierre, Jeanne, and Clare.

By 1592 her parents had removed to the German city Köln, where a daughter Susanna was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church on 2 Dec. 1592, with the sponsors being David de Coussenaer and Sara van Crombrugghe "in place of her sister Clara van Crombrugghe from London." She and Laurens Schellinks were married in Amsterdam on 13 June 1620, and had seven children baptized in that city: Willem (7 Feb. 1623, Nieuwe Kerk), Jacobus (16 Oct. 1625, Oude Kerk), Daniel (11 Nov. 1627, Oude Kerk), Heiljltje (1 Dec. 1630, Nieuwe Kerk), Cristiaen (19 Jun. 1633, Nieuwe Kerk), Catrina (18 Jan. 1637, Nieuwe Kerk), and Laurens (29 Feb. 1640, Nieuwe Kerk).
