Ex-postmaster for Dolliver Is Dead at 74
Mrs. Lottie V. Tvedte, 74, retired Dolliver postmaster, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday [February 24, 1969] en route to Holy Family Hospital. Cause of death was congestive heart failure (cardiac arrest). She had been ill for the past five years.
She was born May 18, 1894, at Ladoga, Ind., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Terry.
She received her education in New Ross, Ind., and graduated from New Ross High School.
In 1914 she moved with her parents to Chinook, Mont., where they homesteaded near Clear Creek, Mont.
She was married Sept. 19, 1917, to Hans A. Tvedte at Chinook.
In 1919 they moved to Dolliver. She served as postal clerk, as acting postmaster, and then as postmaster. She had a total of 17 years in civil service.
Mrs. Tvedte was a member of D.A.R., of the National League of Postmasters, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion of Dolliver, and the Emmet County Historical Society.
She was a member of the Dolliver Methodist Church.
Survivors are four sons, Robert H., Phoenix, Ariz.; Norman L., Mission Hills, Calif.; Donald J., Iowa City; and Dr. Hans A., Estherville; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, E.L. Terry, Indianapolis, Ind.; Glenn Terry and M.L. Terry of Winnebago, Minn.
Her husband died in 1951. Her parents and seven brothers also preceded her in death.
