Eddie Verlin Anderson, 70, of Clay Center, KS, passed away December 16, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Tues., Dec. 28, 2010 at Clay Center United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Center United Methodist Church, Salusbury Primary School in London, England or the American Stroke Assoc. Eddie was born June 4, 1940 in Bellville, KS to Leslie Merlin and Vivian Esther (Graham) Anderson. He graduated from Agenda, KS High School and Kansas Wesleyan University. Eddie married Neva Lee Bartlett on June 17, 1962 in Paradise, KS. They raised three daughters, Tamala, DeeJo, and Julie as they moved around the Midwest, living in Salina and Colby, KS, South Bend, IN, Wheaton and Decatur, IL, and Stevens Point, WI. His faith was an important constant in his life, and he was an active church member in each community. Ed and Neva joined the Clay Center United Methodist Church when they moved back to Kansas in 1997.

Much of Ed’s professional career was with Burroughs Corporation (later Unisys); after retiring in 1992, he worked for Skyward Software, retiring in 1997 to move to Clay Center. Ed relished time with family and friends, was always eager to travel, and loved attending his grandchildren’s events. His open smile, ready laugh, and friendly nature were treasured by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lyle Anderson. Eddie is survived by his wife Neva of Clay Center; daughters Tamala Anderson Yakubu and husband Armstrong of London, England, Deedra Jo Miller and husband Bob of Gardner, KS, Julie Moran of Highland, KS and Robert Moran of Clay Center; brother Stephen Anderson of Agenda, KS; and six grandchildren.
