Graduate of Davidson College (1942) and Union Theological Seminary (1947). Also served as an Army infantry officer in WWII and in the Chaplaincy Corps during the Korean war. He was a pastor in the Presbyterian church for over 35 years, serving in NC, TN, GA, and SC.
