Bernice C. Fabert, 91, of Rockford passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at River Bluff Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Bernice was born on January 11, 1922, in Waupeton, IA, the daughter of John and Clara Spielbauer Pape. Bernice married Louis H. Fabert on January 31, 1946, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2011. Bernice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; she liked doing crossword puzzles and wrote poems when she was younger. Bernice loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Bernice is survived by her children, Virginia (Jim) Riggs, Cathy (Mike) Braaten, Clark (Phyllis) Fabert, Douglas (Debbie) Fabert, Darlene Fabert, Marlene (Tom) Zellner, Wendy (Dan) Stata and Ruth (Jim) Keeling; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael; two brothers; and four sisters. The family would like to thank River Bluff Nursing Home staff and Northern Illinois Hospice for all their loving care that was given to Bernice, and to Pastor Ciprys for all his visits to Bernice. A service to celebrate Bernice's life will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 600 N. Horsman in Rockford, with Pastor Frank Ciprys officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Willwood Cemetery in Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Northern Illinois Hospice.
