Dora Jean Bollman was born April 12, 1918, in Forest Mills, IA, the daughter of Floyd Immer and Alice May (Winter) Clark. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1935, and attended Waukon Junior College, where she took the normal training curriculum. She then taught at Smithfield and Hickory Creek rural schools. On May 14, 1940, Dora married Everett Lyle Bollman at Postville United Brethren Parsonage in Postville, IA. They lived on the Bollman farm where Dora was a busy homemaker and farmwife. She liked to bake, cook, and always made sure her home was welcoming to visitors. She was also known to kill any rattlesnake that dared to travel through her yard. Dora lived on the farm for 65 years, moving to Waukon in 2005.
Dora was a member of Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville. Church was very important to her; she taught Sunday school, and was active in the women's and weekly bible study groups. She loved to embroider, crochet, and quilt. Dora enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, and having coffee time with family and friends.
Dora is survived by her six children: Jerry (Cheryl) Bollman of Waukon, Jim (Susan) Bollman of Harpers Ferry, IA, Doralee (Dick) Huinker of Monona, IA, Marcia (Ronald) Harris of Postville, Clark (Vickie) Bollman of Waukon, and Scott (Kim) Bollman of Luana, IA; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Verdon "Bud" Swenson; sister-in-law Lucille Bollman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Everett, who died in 2004; grandson Gary Bollman; granddaughter Sandra Bollman; two sisters: Roberta and Mary; and two brothers: Lloyd and Keith.
Honorary casketbearers are Dora's granddaughters. Casketbearers are Dora's grandsons.
