Jerry Lee Bollman was born January 21, 1941, at the Sherman Hospital in Waukon, IA, the son of Everett and Dora (Clark) Bollman. He was baptized on April 13, 1941, at Forest Mills United Brethren Church in rural Postville, IA, attended Smithfield country school, and graduated from Luana Consolidated Public Schools in 1959.

From 1960-64, Jerry served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman, 2nd class, spending some of that time serving in the Vietnam War.

On May 6, 1972, he married Cheryl Lynn Walsh at Pilgrim United Methodist Church in Monona, IA.

Jerry had a very entrepreneurial spirit and social nature which led him to manage and even possess his own businesses over the years. Jerry also worked for the JR Watkins Company, which allowed him to travel both locally and internationally. His love for being behind the wheel led him to drive bus for Allamakee Community Schools. On occasion, he drove the VA van for veterans’ trips to Iowa City for healthcare. In later years, he enjoyed spending his days working with his close friend John White on John’s Postville farm.

Jerry’s faith was extremely important to him. As a member of First Baptist Church in Waukon, Jerry served as a Deacon, janitor, and Sunday school superintendent. He also belonged to the American Legion.

Jerry loved to go fishing and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Jerry loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids, and his dog Amber Rose. Jerry will be remembered for his selfless and forgiving nature, generous heart, and sense of humor. He had a silent, strong and courageous nature that was admired by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Waukon; his daughter Kari (Matthew) Nelson; his son Bryan Bollman; grandchildren: Chelsea (Michael Clark) Ahlstrom, Whalen Ahlstrom, and Ozzie Nelson; two great-grandchildren: Liam and Hayden Clark; siblings: Jim (Susan) Bollman, Doralee Huinker, Marcia (Ron) Harris, Clark (Vickie) Bollman, and Scott (Kim) Bollman; brother-in-law Kim (Phyllis) Walsh; and mother-in-law Beverly Walsh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew Gary Bollman, infant niece Sandra Bollman, brother-in-law Richard Huinker; and father-in-law James Walsh.
