Marguerite P. "Jo" Hocker Bender, 90, of 1636 Walnut Bottom Road, Newville, formerly of 14 McFarland St., Newville, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at home.
Born July 25, 1918, in Upper Mifflin Township, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Bena M. Frey Hocker. She attended Boiling Springs High School, and retired from the former U-Wanna Wash Frocks of Newville.
Marguerite is survived by her husband of 68 years, John E. Bender Sr.; her son, John "Butch" Jr. (and his wife, Carole) Bender; two daughters, Sue (and her husband, Todger) Morrow and Carolyn (and her husband, Ken) Lloyd, all of Newville; her brother, Harry M. Hocker of California; three sisters, Bena Zimmerman and Carolyn Kough, both of Newville and Ruth Black of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Matthew Lloyd, Kathy J. Lloyd, Stephen Bender and Michael Bender; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Egger Funeral Home, 15 Big Spring Ave., Newville, with the Rev. Jean Kuebler officiating. Interment will follow in Newville Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
