Elise Alston of Eulonia died Tuesday, April 14, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shorter Chapel AME Church with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mrs. Alston is survived by her husband, Peter J. "PJ" Alston of Eulonia; her children, Marvin Harris, Ernestine (Willie G.) Walthour, Deloris Carswell, all of Midway, Ella Polite of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Bernice Jones of Baltimore, Md.; a dedicated and devoted granddaughter, Maxine Gaddy; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Born and educated in Liberty County she was a member of Shorter Chapel AME Church, where she served as deaconess, choir member and hospitality committee member. She worked in the seafood industry, the McIntosh County School cafeteria and the summer lunch program.

Darien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
