Peter Joe “PJ” Alston Sr., of Eulonia, died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shorter Chapel A.M.E. with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery; the body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services, viewing is from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his children Peter (Jennifer) Alston Jr., Faith A. Eary, Betty Alston, Elton Alston, siblings Hattie Knuckles and Sadie Swift, a devoted friend Rose Jackson, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 5 grandchildren and other relatives.
Born and educated in McIntosh County, he was a member of Shorter Chapel A.M.E. where he served in many capacities and was retired.
