Samuel Camillus "Sam" Reighley, Sr., 70, resident of 510 Marietta Drive, husband of Faye Taylor Reighley died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home.

Born in Laurens County, September 2, 1942, he was a son of Charlotte Eugenia Senn Reighley and the late David Alan Reighley, Jr. A 1960 graduate of Newberry High School, Mr. Reighley was also a 1963 graduate of SC Highway Patrol School. A Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard, he was retired as District Captain from the SC Highway Patrol where he served in Greenwood for thirty-five years.

A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Mr. Reighley was also a member of the Charles Poore Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-eight years of the home and his mother of Newberry are three children, Betsy Hodgin and husband John of Lexington, Samuel C. "Cal" Reighley, Jr. of Irmo and Jenny Miller and husband Chris of Donalds; two grandchildren, Madeline Hodgin and Taylor Hodgin, both of Lexington; and two brothers, David Alan Reighley, III and wife Mabel of Reading, PA and Daniel Senn Reighley and wife Michelle of Westminster. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Ann Reighley.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM from St. Mark United Methodist Church Rivers Street Campus with Reverend Barrett Alewine officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Gene Cooley, Randy Stevenson, Wayne Bedenbaugh, Greg Johnson, Andy Johnson, Patrick Johnson, John Hodgin and Christopher Miller.

Honorary escort will be members of the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard along with all current and retired law enforcement officers.

The family will receive friends Sunday at St. Mark United Methodist Church Rivers Street Campus from 1:00 PM until the service hour and at other times at the home.
