He was born on November 19, 1958 to Howard Earl "Bud" and Dora Louise "Peggy" (St John) Ballinger in Excelsior Springs, MO. In 1977, Dan graduated from Lawson High School.
On June 10, 1978 he was united in marriage to Karen Sue Galey. After their marriage they lived in Excelsior Springs, Trimble and settled in Smithville where they made their home.
Dan was a plumber and worked for the Clay County Parks Department. He later owned and operated American Guttering for 19 years. Dan was currently working for Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Dan loved thowing darts going to many tournaments with his wife Karen.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister.
Dan is survived by his wife Karen; mother Peggy Ballinger, Excelsior Springs, MO; sister, Sharon Lindsey and husband Tim, Lawson, MO; brothers, Howard Ballinger and wife Sherry, Kingston, MO and Brent Ballinger and wife Lisa, Cut And Shoot, TX; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
