She was born July 13, 1922, in Ravenna, Ohio, the daughter of the late Willis Austin and Vinna Alice (Robinson) Ticknor. Beatrice worked at the Oak Rubber Company during WWII and later at Prudential Insurance. She was a devoted homemaker in addition to serving as a leader for the Brownies, an advisor for 4-H, and a room mother. She enjoyed gardening and a variety of crafts, including: sewing, knitting, and most recently plastic canvas. Beatrice also enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She had a fondness for cats throughout her entire life.
Beatrice is survived by her children: Donald (Fritz Barker) Cooley, Norma (Greg) Preneta and Norene (Jerry) McEowen; as well as her grandchildren: Nicholas (Julie) Preneta, Adam (Kira) Preneta and great-grandchildren: Holden Preneta, Elsa Preneta, Jack Tiernan, and Pearl Preneta. Beatrice also leaves her sister-in-law Roberta Cooley, brother-in-law Dale (Joan) Cooley and many loving nieces and nephews. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years George L. Cooley on June 8, 2012.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2013, with Reverend Dr. Nancy Conley officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville.
