George Lathrop Cooley, 85, passed away at the Woodlands at Robinson on Friday, June 8, 2012.

George was born in Twinsburg, Ohio to parents Lucius and Grace Cooley on June 24, 1926. He worked as a licensed electrician and was a member of I.B.E.W. local #306 electricians union. George was a member of the Twinsburg Congregational Church and attended the First Christian Church in Ravenna. George was a member of the Ohio National Guard for many years. He was an avid woodworker. George thoroughly loved the outdoors, spending time gardening and cutting trees around his property. Camping was a passion he enjoyed with his family whom he dearly loved.

George is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice. He is also survived by his children: Donald (Fritz Barker) Cooley, Norma (Greg) Preneta and Norene (Jerry) McEowen. Surviving also are his grandchildren: Nicholas (Julie) Preneta, Adam (Kira) Preneta and great-grandchildren: Holden Preneta and Jack Tiernan. George also leaves his brother Dale (Joan) Cooley, sister-in-law Roberta Cooley and many loving nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lucius "Junior" Cooley and his sister Carolyn Cooley.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday, June 14, 2012 with Pastor Heather Wick officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville.
