Charles Washington Albaugh was born in 1903, in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the son of John William and Catherine M. Albaugh. Circa 1925, he married Daisy Irene Hankey, daughter of Luther George Thomas and Carrie Belle Fair Hankey. They were the parents of 2 children: Charles Washington and Janet L. Albaugh. Charles passed away May 25, 1961, in Detour, Carroll County, Maryland, and was buried on the 28th in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.

"Charles Washington Albaugh, 58-year-old well-known retired farmer and furniture dealer of Detour, died very suddenly Thursday evening at his home. He had been under the care of a doctor for a heart condition. He farmed for a number of years near Detour. About three years ago, due to ill health, he retired from farming and opened a furniture store in Detour. He traded under the name of Quality Furniture Compnay. He handled furniture, appliances, floor coverings and other household effects. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church at Rocky Ridge. He also served on the church board for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy I. Albaugh, one son, Charles W. Albaugh, York, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanette L. Henry, Mt. Wolfe, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Estella Shiffman, Dunkirk, New York and Mrs. Alice Ream, New Port News, Virginia; and five grandchildren. The body is at the Creager Funeral Home in Thurmont, where friendsmay call Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be taken to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Sunday at 1 p.m. for services at 2 p.m. Rev. Donald Brake will officiate. Interment in church cemetery."

"CHARLES ALBAUGH DIED IN MARYLAND. Mrs. Alex Schiffman of Grant Avenue has received word of the unexpected death of her brother, Charles Albaugh, in Detour, Maryland. Mr. Albaugh is survived by his wife, Daizie; two children, Charles, Jr., and Mrs. Harry Henry, both of York, Pennsylvania; six granddaughers and two sisters, Mrs. Schiffman of Dunkirk and Mrs. George Ream of Newport, New Jersey."
