Horace "Oskie" Aiello
"Martinez Legend"

Horace Peter Aiello was born in Martinez October 6, 1932
and passed away on April 5, 2011.

He lived (and enjoyed) his entire life in Martinez. He was nicknamed "Oskie" at an early age and was forever known to family and friends in Martinez by that name. Horace graduated from Alhambra High School in 1951. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy on the USS Shangri-La (CV-37).

Afterwards, he worked for the City of Martinez, Sun Valley Mall, Alhambra High School and Longs Drugstore.

Horace is preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn Patricia
(Lucido) and Peter Joseph Aiello, as well his brother,
Robert Jack Aiello. Horace is survived by his brother, Anthony Aiello and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Horace will be most missed at Alhambra High School athletic events. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Bulldogs as not only a fan, but also as a friend to the coaching staff and mentor to the many student-athletes of Alhambra High over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family of Horace Aiello requests donations to be made to St. Catherine of Siena Parish or the Alhambra High School Athletic Department or the VA Martinez Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.

Horace's life will be celebrated at a Rosary remembrance at Connolly and Taylor in Martinez on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00pm. Mass for Horace will be at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Martinez on Wednesday, April 13th, at 10:00.
