Richard A. Conner, one of 13 children of pioneer settler of Jennings Co. IN, served in 6th IN Infantry in Civil War, wounded and captured at Chickamauga, 15 months in Confederate prisons, including Andersonville.Following War he co-owned Jennings Co. newspaper and served 4 year term as County Auditor. Served as Indiana State Librarian in 1877-79. Co-owned and operated Kentland Gazette in Newton Co. Indiana and had interests in newspapers in Chattanooga TN, Terre Haute Indiana and elsewhere. Died of TB as resident of Indiana Soldiers Home and was buried there in 1903. Married Louisa Burdge of Jennings Co., two children.
