MOUNT VERNON - Margaret L. York, 77, died at 8:18 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, with Pastor Gary Ryden officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

Margaret L. York, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:18 A.M. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Mrs. York was born on Tuesday, April 16, 1935 in Belle Rive, Illinois the daughter of the late Arthur and Ora (Sink) McKay. She married Billie Joe York on December 3, 1949 in Morganfield, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2010.

Margaret worked in customer service for Joy Mining Machinery in Mt. Vernon for 29 years and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Surviving family members include her daughter: Diane Lentz of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Stan York and wife Diana of Henning, Tennessee; grandchildren: Jeff Hicks, Chris York of Tennessee and Michael York and wife Chrystal of Tennessee; great grandchildren: Kelsey, Shelby and Elizabeth Grace Hicks, Ryan and Jacob York; sister: Shirley Kite of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, husband, one infant son: Duane and one sister: Pauline McKay preceded her in death.

SERVICES: will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Pastor Gary Ryden will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
