Shirley Forstner, 75, of New Ulm, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Myron Forstner of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Roxann and Kerry Kurowski of St. Cloud, Lisa and Bill Fischer of New Ulm, Melissa and Ed Lee of St. Peter; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Joan Forstner of New Ulm, Greg and Connie Forstner of Rapid City, South Dakota, Frank and Reya Forstner of New Ulm, Ryan Forstner of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tudy and Joe Landowski of Emily, Beverly Tepley of Brainerd, Donna and Ed Novak of Union City, Calif.; brothers and sister-in-law, John Stockard, Tony and Kathy Stockard all of Emily.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Forstner; grandson, Jacob Forstner; sister, Bernadette Stockard in infancy; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Martin Kertzman; brother, Thomas Stockard,; brother-in-law, Leonard Tepley.
Shirley Ann Stockard was born May 30, 1937 in Fairfield Township, Crow Wing County to Thomas and Elizabeth (Katzenberger) Stockard. She was a 1955 graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Myron Forstner on Oct. 4, 1958 in Emily. After marriage they lived in New Ulm, Searles, and then farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County. They moved to Real Life in New Ulm in 2008. Shirley dedicated her life to raising her seven children. She was an extraordinary cook and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing for her young family, traveling, and attending her children's sporting events. In recent years, she took particular joy in spending time with her three young grandsons.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools, Cathedral Parish or to the donor's choice.
