EAST MOLINE - Funeral services for Virginia R. Adams, 97, formerly of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Adams died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Champaign County Nursing Home, Campaign, Ill. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, East Moline, where she had been a member.
Virginia Birkhead was born December 19, 1915, in Winfield, Mo., the daughter of Mahlon and Maude Miller Birkhead. She married C. Clifford Adams on August 23, 1947, in East Moline. He died July 5, 2003. She was a graduate of Missouri Business School, St. Louis, and had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in St. Louis.
Survivors include her sons, Robert, Prescott, Ariz., and Kent, Champaign; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Muriel Birkhead, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Paul and Miller Birkhead.
