Death takes Mrs. Touchstone, 33-year resident

Mrs. Nettie Linfield Touchstone, 91 years of age, passed away in Tehachapi Hospital July 30th. Funeral services were held at the Mojave Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church at 11 a.m. August 3rd with Victor L. Smyth of the LDS church officiating. Burial followed in the local cemetery with Stickel Mortuary caking care of arrangements.
Mrs. Touchstone, born on Sept. 2, 1874 in Beaugard, Mississippi came to California in 1906 and lived in Los Angeles before moving to Bakersfield. In 1933 she came to Mojave to live in their newly completed home an M Street.
Mr. Touchstone who passed away several years ago, worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in Mojave. They had one daughter, Mamie Lelia Etter whose husband Leon operated the Gilmore Services Station in Mojave for several years. Mrs. Etter passed away several years ago.
Many older Mojave residents remember Mrs. Touchstone and her daughter dressed neatly in colorful, long gingham dresses with sun bonnets and driving a Model T Ford.
