She wa born June 5, 1918, in Allen County to William Henry Harrison and Cuba Mae Stevenson Styer, who preceded her in death. On August 18, 1940, she married George William Brackney, who died November 29, 1986.
Mrs. Brackney was an elementary schoolteacher, retiring in 1977 from the Shawnee schools. She served a secretary of the Shawnee Cemetery Board for many years. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church and its Ama Deus Class and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the ONU Allen County Club, Lima Senior Citizens, Alturian Club and American Association of University Women. She was a 1935 graduate of Shawnee High School and a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University. She celebrated the 65th anniversary of her high school graduation in 2000.
Survivors include a son, James (Kikki) Brackney of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Judie (Gary) Fosnaugh of Lima; eight grandchildren, Kirk (Julie) Fosnaugh, Trevor Fosnaugh, Ryan Fosnaugh, Kirsten Brackney, Katrina (Dr. Jon) Harp, Dr. Chris Brackney, Kara Brackney and Peter Brackney; and four great-grandchildren, Haley Fosnaugh, Hanna Fosnaugh, Joshua Harp and Gabrielle Harp.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, John, Glenn and Robert Styer; and two sisters, Naola (Joe) Lane and Evelyn Styer.
Services were held at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Reverend Brian King and Charlotte Hefner officiated. Burial is at Shawnee Cemetery.
