Lois Nanette "Skip" (Smick) Anderson (1930 - 2012)
SEBRING, Fla. - Lois Nanette Smick was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Macomb, Ill. She graduated from Avon, Illinois high school and subsequently attended the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in Galesburg, Ill., where she then lived and worked. She met and married her husband, Jack D. Anderson, where their three children were born. The family eventually moved to Dubuque, Iowa and then Bettendorf, Iowa, from where they retired in 1985. They moved to Sebring, Florida where they enjoyed many years of retirement. She was an avid golfer and a skilled card player. Lois had several health problems this year, with surgeries and setbacks with associated pain. She lost her battle with these on Nov. 26, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Lewis "Mose" Smick; and her son, John. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jack; daughter, Nancy (Donaldson); son, Jeff (Sandra); and seven granddaughters. She also leaves behind many good friends in the Quad City area, Dubuque, Galesburg and Sebring all of whom will miss her greatly.
A memorial service was held in Sebring on Nov. 30. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church in Sebring, Fla.
