He was born March 23, 1930, the son of Falke Frank and Judith Johnson Anderson in Craig, Nebraska. He has lived in Sebring since 1986. Jack worked as an industrial engineer and retired from John Deere and Company, Davenport after 22 years. Jack is a past member of the Sun n Lake Golf Club, a past member of First Lutheran Church, member of the Masonic Order. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his children, Nancy (Gary) Donaldson and Jeff (Sandra) Anderson, and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Lois, of 59 years, his son, John, his brothers Frank (Ray) Anderson, Jim Anderson, and his sister, Katharine (Yane) Spiker, nee Anderson.
Jack was a self-made man, who knew how to do things, and he largely taught himself all the skills he used in life and was justifiably proud of his self-sufficiency. His children looked to him as a role model for a solid work ethic, hunger for knowledge, and the superior gift of common sense. There was literally nothing Jack could not figure out given the time and tools.
Memorial Services celebrating the lives of both Jack and Lois (Smick) Anderson will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2018, at First Lutheran Church, 364 E. Water St., Galesburg. Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the burial at the church. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Galesburg, or to the Atonement Lutheran Church, Sebring, Florida. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
