Liverpool - George William Sagle, 80 years of Liverpool entered into rest on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at his residence. George was born on June 6, 1932 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Shannon and Catherine (Ulsh) Askey. On October 20, 1951 he married the former Helen E. Myers, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marital union of 61 years. George was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He retired as an electrician for the IBEW Local 143, Harrisburg after 42 years.
George was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631, Selinsgrove, the American Legion Victory Post 0177, Newport, and the Marine Corps League H-3-1. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, and was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg. George also was involved with the IBEW Local 143 union retiree group. He enjoyed mowing his yard, playing golf, and spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his four children and their spouses; Cathy A. and Chuck Foose of Liverpool, Timothy B. and Stephanie Sagle of Liverpool, Vicki M and Michael Anderson of Millerstown; and Betsy J. and John Maurer of Newport; a daughter-in-law; Sally Sagle of Hanover; five grandchildren; Kimberly Hatfield and her husband Keith, Joshua Anderson and his wife Janelle, Mallory McClure and her husband Ryan, Jennifer Byers and her Fiance Adam Swartz, and Christopher Sagle and his fiancee Ashley Holley; five great grandchildren; Layla, Leyah, and Laycen Hatfield, Jacob and Jackson Anderson; and a brother; Frederick "Gene" Sagle of Lemoyne. George was preceded by two sons William Martin Sagle and Michael Thomas Sagle.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM from the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne A. Kerstetter. Burial with full military rites accorded by the Liverpool American Legion Post 364 will be made in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Millerstown. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of George to the Lebanon Veterans Hospital, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042. www.pennlive.com/obits
