Ted Dotson was the first of nine children born to Oscar Brown Dotson (1881-1948) and Edith Virginia (Baxter) Dotson (1882-1967). He was raised near Wapello, Iowa, where he married Zella "Myrtle" Walker (1903-1990) December 2, 1922. Their son was Leonard "Max" Dotson (1924-1952) and Virginia (Dotson/Lox) Golliher.

Theodore Roosevelt Dotson, 95, of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of West Burlington, died at 7:34 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 1997, at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Michigan.

Born January 5, 1902, in Wapello, he was the son of Oscar and Edith Baxter Dotson. On December 2, 1922, he married Zella Myrtle Walker. She died September 18, 1990.

Mr. Dotson was a machinist at Burlington Northern Railroad shops in West Burlington for 45 years. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Golliher of Jackson, Michigan; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bert Dotson of Freeport, Illinois, Kenneth Dotson of Spokane, Washington, and Mark Dotson of Portland, Oregon; and two sisters, Geneva Gilmore of Cedar Rapids and Verona Walker of New London.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, his parents and three brothers.

Friends may call after noon until 8:30 p.m. today and from 8 to noon Thursday at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation.

The graveside funeral for Mr. Dotson will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Reverend David Rogula officiating.
