William Boyd Allison "Lefty" Dotson, 78, East Moline, Illinois, the father of a Bourbonnais, France, resident, died Tuesday, February 17, 1987, at the Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home in Clifton, Illinois. He was born June 6, 1908, in Newport, Iowa, to and Edith (Baxter) and Oscar Dotson. Mr. Dotson married Vera E. McMeekan on December 21, 1940, in Canton, Missouri.
Mr. Dotson was an inspector in quality control for the former John Deere Spreader Works of East Moline. He retired an 1968. He was U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the East Moline Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, who resides at the Clifton nursing home; a son, Weldon "Dewey" Dotson of Bourbonnais, France; two daughters, Maxine Hofstetter of Hampton and Leitha Mohr of East Moline; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Genevia Gilmore of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Brona Walker of New London, IA; and four brothers: Kenneth of Seattle, WA; Mark of Portland, OR; Ted of Burlington, IA; and Bert of Freeport.
Graveside services will be at Viola Cemetery, Viola, IL.
