Pine Ridge Pet Cemetery

This is the oldest pet cemetery in the country, and it is owned and operated by an animal welfare agency. It shares its proximity and driveway with the Animal Rescue League. The Cemetery includes a new section and a historical section with burials dating back to the early 1900's. The cemetery is open to the public and one can acquire a printed Tour Guide to the historical part of the Cemetery at the Animal Rescue League Office. In the historical (old) section, you will find the grave of Admiral Byrd's dog Igloo, and some graves of Lizzie Borden's pets. My visit to the Cemetery to photograph "Prescott" the most famous and admired Boston Mounted Police Horse was well worth the trip!
