The following is an excerpt from "Reflections of Oak Grove Baptist Church Celebrating 75 years (1892-1967)" by I. C. Hill:
"Something must be said of the "graveyard" as it was generally called in those days. The Salter Graveyard in its beginning was a family burial ground, but by permission, in the later years it became a community burial ground. Just when the name of the Salter Graveyard was changed to Oak Grove Graveyard is not know, probably even before the new church was built near it. The land occupied by the cemetery was no longer owned by Salter, but by two brothers, S. F. and G. L. Taylor. Mr. S. F. Taylor donated three acres and Mr. G. L. Taylor donated two acres to the church and cemetery. This seems to have been the greatest incentive to locate the church where it is today -- to be near the cemetery. In recent years another strip of land along the east side of the original donation was given to the church by Ausie Gentry."
