This cemetery is better known as the Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery.

Originally dedicated one hundred years ago on May 30, 1915, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil War, the monument pays tribute to many local veterans -- including more than 60 Civil War veterans buried in the cemetery. On May 30, 2015, the monument was rededicated, and a new plaque proclaims:
Dedicated on May 30, 1915 in commemoration ofthe 50th anniversary of the Civil War. Erected by Owen Summers Camp No. 7 of the Spanish American War Veteransin honor of the members of Baker Post No. 8 of the Grand Army of theRepublic.

Restored and rededicated on May 30, 2015,
the 100th anniversary of its dedication and
the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War.
