Additional information
The cemetery was used at the time early Door County Settlers lived on the Island. Norwegian immigrants arrived at Eagle Island August 24, 1854. There were about fifteen families of them. Unfortunately they brought with them the germs of the dreadful Asiatic cholera, and an epidemic broke out. Seven cholera victims were laid away in the stony soil of the island without coffins or priestly rites. In 1976 the Ephraim Men's Club placed a bronze tablet on or near the spot on which these early migrants were believed to have been buried.
