There are three distinct enclosures at Tanyard Cemetery:
1) the main Tanyard enclosure to the east,
2) a smaller enclosure containing Curry-Clayton-Greer-Starr-Webb and other burials, and
3) the Warren S. and Caroline (Edwards) Williams family enclosure to the west on the creekside.
As of September, 2022 There were 31 marked burials in the Williams Plot at Tanyard Cemetery. Of these, 29 are direct relations of Warren S. Williams (4-G) and Caroline (Edwards) Williams (4-E) ; five generations including Dr. Warren S. Williams' parents, William Williams (6-U) (1780-1863) and Winnifred (Mizell) Williams (6-W) (1776-1857), and Warren S. and Caroline (Edwards) Williams' children and grandchildren, etc. The Warren S. Williams family relocated from Russell County, Alabama some time after the birth of son John W. Williams (4-C) in August of 1856. The earliest burial was Mrs. Winnifred (Mizell) Williams in October of 1857.
The grave inventory map consists of 7 rows with plots A through Y.
One grave at (4-A) on the front edge of the cemetery is that of James Foley (1825-1909) who was born in Ireland and is not a Williams relation. As the family story goes, James Foley got off of the riverboat and never left. He is listed in the household of Warren S. Williams in Red River Parish in 1870 and in 1880 as farm labor. His grave was marked by a round topped marble Masonic headstone as late as September, 2022. After a tree fall, the headstone was missing in May of 2023.
There is a plot marked with broken marble slabs at (6-O) next to William Williams (6-N) (1858-1860).
The Williams' plot is currently maintained by the Williams descendants and is enclosed within a wire fence.
