The burial site of George and Peggy Hamilton is located on Flint Hill Road outside of Troy, North Carolina. The two are buried approximately 2/10 of a mile from the Jumping Off Rock Trail head which is located at 2015 A Flint Hill Road, Troy, North Carolina. From the parking lot at the trail head turn left on Flint Hill Road and proceed approximately 2/10 of a mile. You will drive over two short bridges over Barnes Creek and Poison Creek and then head up a small hill. As the road curves up the hill there is a small turn in on the right with a downed tree a short distance into the turn in. The two graves are just beside the downed tree but cannot be seen from the road. There is an old rock chimney in the woods which is not far from the grave site and may be of assistance in knowing you are in the right location of the graves. It seems that in 2017 someone cleaned around the two graves and placed artificial flowers there. It appears that two newer flat stones with George and Peggy's names may have been placed there at that time. Two older small stone markers with small engraving have apparently been there for a much longer time. The downed tree fell after the 2017 cleanup and knocked over one of the older markers. This researcher has attempted to find information pertaining to George and Peggy on ancestry.com, family search, and through the Montgomery County Historical Society but other than the information that was included on one of the older markers this researcher has found no further information on either George or Peggy. Please note that this researcher did not use the black marker on the old gravestone. This researcher can only assume that whoever did the cleanup in 2017 must have used the marker on the stone at that time as pictured. The close up pictures of the markers were taken in 2017 and the downed tree and stone chimney picture were taken in 2022.
