REMOVED TO SK043
All the gravestones from this lot have been removed to Riverside Cemetery (SK043) in Wakefield. It was located 25 feet south of Jerry Brown Farm Road at telephone pole #6 1/2. The original stone wall, 45 feet x 30 feet, can still be seen beside the road at GPS coordinates 41deg 24' 19.89" N 71deg 31' 40.67" W, across the road from the Peckham Cemetery (SK073). James N. Arnold recorded this lot Oct. 18, 1880: "On land of George Sherman a burial yard of the Hazard family, lot planted with evergreens, walled with granite blocks, inside of lot in rather poor condition." Daniel Stedman in his journal for June 22, 1829 says "They took up the remains of Dr. Hazard first 2 wives by his request to bury by him." Since Riverside Cemetery was not opened until 1870, Sarah and Mary must have been moved to SK140 from an earlier unknown lot. Sometime after 1880, Dr. George Hazard and his three wives and daughter were removed to Riverside.
