Der Friedhof Eller liegt nördlich des südlichen Zubringers zur Autobahn A46 und wird durch die Straße Werstener Feld geteilt. Südlich und östlich fließt die Düssel. Entlang eines sehr schönen Spazierweges an der Düssel kann der Friedhof Eller begangen werden. Der Friedhof Eller gehört mit einer Fläche von 19 Hektar zu den mittelgroßen Friedhöfen in Düsseldorf.
Auf dem östlichen Teil fanden 1907 die ersten Beisetzung statt. Ursprünglich gehörte Eller mal zum Amt Mettmann, mal zur Gemeinde Hilden. Aber erst 1909 mit der Eingemeindung nach Düsseldorf, kam auch der Friedhof in städtische Verwaltung.

Der östliche und damit älteste Teil des Friedhofes ist geprägt von einem beachtlicher Baumbestand. Zur Eröffnung wurden nahe dem Eingang (Feld A) sechs Rotbuchen in einem Rondell gepflanzt, von denen noch fünf stattliche Exemplare erhalten sind.
