Add PhotosThis cemetery is currently (2011) in bad condition, it has been neglected for many years. There is a fence around some of the Huggard graves, however it is falling down. The whole area is within the confines of a cow pasture, they have been allowed to graze over and trample on graves. A few years ago, it was possible to see many head and foot stones made from fieldstone, however these have now been mostly trampled into the ground, and for the past several years bushes and trees have taken over the area. It is even difficult to determine the actual size that the cemetery once took up, as about 60 or more years ago a pond was bulldozed out immediately adjacent to the cemetery and some of the inscribed stone grave markers wound up along the shore of the pond and there were probably graves once within the area now covered by the pond.
In 1844 John Huggard deeded the property to the community for a place for a school and a public burying ground, however over the years the existence of this deed has been forgotten and the property has for a long period of time been simply regarded as being owned by the current owner of the land grant.
