Add PhotosWaynesboro, Virginia local, Frank Duff, cites Cy Strickler's (that's Cyrus Warren Strickler) diary. He claims that Cy had the diary of the Rev. Givens Brown Strickler (1840-1913), that was kept until his death. In about 1918, Cy Strickler visited the cemetery at Strickler Springs, describing it having a wooden fence with iron rails, then in excellent condition and having at least 50 stones and many field stones. (Cyrus Warren Strickler, Jr. is the grandson of Rev. Givens.)
Cy's diary says that "the cemetery was begun the 14th of Jun 1815 after the death of Christian Christopher Strickler." His grave was marked by a rock, which he'd fallen on. Bethesda Church began here, as a one room chapel, that was used as a local school house.
