Add PhotosHowever, the two 40 acre parcels on the Olson farm in Highland Township, NE 1/4 of SE 1/4, and SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 Section 6 were once owned by Frederick Hermann Stahmann (1830-1869) and Bernard Heinrich Stahmann (1833-1915) in the 1850's. Both left the area and moved to Minnesota in the mid to late 1850's. They are brothers to Mrs. Heinrich (Sophie nee Stahmann) Blabaum, perhaps thus the confusion in oral history.
Thus with history available at this time, it would seem Stahmann would be a more accurate name for this family plot. Ongoing investigation in 2016 is trying to determine how many people are buried here. No tombstones have been found.
November 2016 update: the oral history would seem to refer to a 40 acre parcel Heinrich (Herman Heinrich Stahmann, not his brother Frederick Herman Stahmann) bought from the US Government in 1855 according to the Patent Map. He was married to Liese Chrisopherson (1832-1893) who is buried at Otter Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
