Pike Township: From Hill Church, left on dirt road leading west from parking lot 2.3 miles to farm on right. Burial spot located behind the pond near the woods. Size: 22' x 45' (includes 3rd row outside wall)
History: Mountain Mary was a spiritual and charitable recluse known for practice of herbal healing. Account filed in Register's Office in Reading after her will was probated (1822) notes payment of $30 to build wall around graveyard. Identity of other graves uncertain, probably her mother and at least one of her sisters, and a brother-in-law. Mary died November 17, 1819 aged 70 years. MHBC p. 102l.
Gravemarkers and inscriptions: Fieldstones are without inscriptions.
Observations: Footstones can easily be confused for headstones. In the row nearest the entrance there is one burial with a fieldstone and 3 unmarked. In the back row are 4 burials with foot and head stones and one unmarked on the right. Outside the wall in the back are five unmarked graves. Graves are laying east to west. Thick roughly laid stone wall. Area kept cleared of brush.
