House on the far hill westward to the left.
Size: 12' x 60' +
History: This graveyard was located because a descendant remembered stories passed down from generation to generation about the location of the Shollenberger graveyard. The early Shollenberger property was located through research and phone calls. Arlene remembered hearing about an area on a hill, near the woods marked with fieldstones. See MHBA, p. 929. The Shollenbergers of Berks are descended from Frederick who landed in Philadelphia, September 3, 1742, from Rotterdam on the Loyal Judith. In 1747 Frederick
received a grant of land from the Penns for 260 acres in Greenwich Township. They were gunsmiths and siclemakers. In 1768 this land was deeded to his eldest son Jacob. These two families are buried on this land. It would seem that after 1800 the Shollenbergers buried at Dunkel's Church cemetery.
Gravemarkers and inscriptions: None; monument erected by Arlene Shollenberger in the fall of 1997.
Observations: Indicate the row closest to the property line has 5 burials, the second row 15 consecutive burials with approximately 2 vacant lots on the end and another burial (perhaps a pet or a slave). There are 10 burials in the third row.
