The Sinking Spring Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery was located adjacent to the first Presbyterian Church in southern Christian County, Kentucky. The Church was founded , according to Henry Perrin, in about 1817 on farmland owned by James Gilmour. The church prospered, "with its highest membership in 1850", but in 1873 reached its lowest point with only 18 members. Soon after it was closed and torn down during the 19th century. Late in the nineteenth century the Major family, owners of the farm, began their own family cemetery adjacent to the old churchyard. Today both cemeteries are on private land and although directions for the MAJOR CEMETERY #2 are posted on that site, it's best to contact the Christian County, Kentucky Historical Society for the location of this cemetery.

PLEASE NOTE:This Cemetery is very old and the grave markers have long since disappeared with the exception of one for an infant child of Alexander Gilmour.
